EEA family permit for non EEA mother in law

Post by question579 » Wed Jul 17, 2013 9:18 am

Hello,

my fiancé (UK national) and I (EEA national) are getting married this year and are hoping to relocate my mother in law to the UK to live with us where we have been living for the past 7 years.

We are aware the UK family permit appears to be harder to obtain and would like to know if anyone had experience with obtaining a EEA family permit for a non-EEA ascending family member.

My mother in law has had a few strokes since last year and recently been in intensive care in India which meant we had to rush to India on short notice. We send money on a monthly basis to cover the mortgage and her day to day expenses as well as paying for 24/7 homecare for her as she is unable to look after herself anymore.

However, we would prefer to have her with us instead of being alone in India. My husbands parents aren't divorced, but his mum has been separated from her husband for over 14 years and we have a declaration of separation available to show that we are unable to rely on her enstranged husband to look after my mother in law or any other relatives.

Any help or advice from others who have gone through the same situation would be greatly appreciated.
