ILR from Tier 2 ICT after 6 Apr 2010

Post by chanansh » Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:21 am

My company first made the application for my Tier 2 ICT on 6 May 2010 (one month after the much publicised 6 Apr 2010 date).

According to the company solicitors, they can keep renewing my Tier 2 ICT visa forever, however, I can never apply for ILR.

If, however, I change jobs and the new sponsor puts me on Tier 2 General, I can then apply for an ILR after 5 years.

This seems counter-productive, as what the policy is saying is its penalising my current employer (in workforce and fee) and me (in having to renew every 2/3 years) for being loyal to each other. They're encouraging me to find another employer if I want to settle and continue paying taxes.

Is there any merit in applying for ILR after my 5 years are up anyways ? Is there any way to show UKBA the madness in their approach ?

Apply away! However, don't doubt that you will be rejected. I think we all know how rigid UKBA are these days... however, as we have elected to move here, we have to abide by their arbitrary and cockamamy rules (and their constantly changing them).

Them's the rules!
