Does clean SAR means no unspent conviction?

Post by samadonline » Fri Jul 19, 2013 5:31 pm

Apologies, if this has been replied to before but I've found other responses quite confusing.

Last year I was sent an NIP for driving at 36mph on a 30mph road which I duly responded to. However, I didn't receive a speeding ticket, and six monthly later I received a summon from a Magistrate's Court.

I explained to the court that I never received the speeding ticket else I would have never ignored it. The Magistrate agreed and gave me a reduced £45 fine so that along with the victim surcharge of £15, I suffer the same cost as an FPN.

I was worried if above results in a criminal conviction. Someone on this board advised me to do a SAR check with ACRO as not all fines in a Magistrate's Court result in a criminal conviction. I recently receive my SAR and it is all clear. My questions are:

1) Does this mean I have no criminal convictions?
2) Do I have to disclose the fine on form AN for Naturalisation (or treat it as an FPN and not disclose it)?

Would appreciate some advise. Thanks

Thank God it was not SARS!!! If you had Sars , a refusal was likely. ROFL
