Urgent Please!!!

Post by WalexK » Sun Jul 21, 2013 2:05 pm

Hi all,
I urgently need to travel to Belgium now. We applied for our son Child Benefit and my spouse had to submit his British Passport along with the application. I hold a family member EEA resident Card.
We just need to travell urgently now, very important, but my spouse cannot, due her passort with Child Benefit Office. This, according to them can take up to three months to process and the return of Passorts can take up to three weeks if not more.
How can I travel alone or how can both of us go to Belgium without her Passort, though as my spouse is a British Citizen.
If I applied for a Shengel Visa it may take two weeks to process, which is not ok for me, as I need to travel before Tuesday 23rd July.
I will really appreciate a quick response from all.

* British citizens can only travel with a passport.
* if travelling together with EEA national, visa not required.
* if travelling alone, visa is required.

This means I may not travel with a British Spouse without a passport or alone with my residency document of EEA.
Thumb up to France and other EU countries using Identity Card as well as Passport.
Anyway, Jambo I appreciate your quick reply.

It is interesting that a UK government body is inhibiting freedom of movement (even if inadvertently). I would complain like crazy until passport returned...

Article 5.4 of directive 2004/38/ec may assist you.
