Your wife would claim chid benefit and tax credits should be in joint names.

You can claim (jointly) for housing and council tax benefit, however, make sure you don't have any extra paid for you as a couple, the applicable amount should be based on your wife and children.

You must be on the new Family life route.... 10 years to settle?

Under the old DLR you could usually claim public funds, they've now stopped this.

Yes, tax credits must be a joint claim in both your names, if you are working 24 or more hours per week you may be entitled to Working Tax Credits depending on income. Use the calculator (click) to work out what you may be entitled to.

Look at the benefit statement when (if) you are awarded anything. Make sure you inform them that you are subject to immigration control and get confirmation in writing if possible.

See here (click at page 2/3) the old rules apply to those granted DLR before July 2012.

Under the new terms for Family Life (it's not DLR) the route to settlement is 10 years. You can switch to flr(m) for which the route to settlement is 5 years. How long have you been working?

There is no need to stop the benefits or for your wife to work. However, you must be working at least 6 months if you've not earned the 18.6k in the last 12 months.

You don't need to stop those benefits but they can't be used as income towards the financial requirement. See here (click) for documents.

At the moment, yes. But that might change to a less stringent financial requirement in the near future.
