10 YEAR ILR

Post by sidpaturi » Wed Jul 24, 2013 11:08 pm

Hi

I complete 10 years in the UK in January 2014 and hoping to make an application for ILR under the 10 year category. In the past, I have studied and worked in the UK on a combination student and sponsored work permit visas, since January 2004.

On one of the occasions in 2007, I failed to meet the conditions of my visa by not transferring LTR from previous employer to new employer within the given 6 month window. I realised this error 3 or 4 days after the 6 month period ended. I immediately notified the HR, who then had to apply for another work permit and subsequently I was granted LTR at a premium service in Croydon.

Will this effect if I make an application for ILR under the 10 year category? Technically speaking I have broken the conditions of my stay!

Thanks

Sid

As long as you made the application within 28 days of the visa expiring you should be ok.

The original workpermit was released in March 2007. I started employment on 30th March, so I had time to transfer my LTR before 30th september 2007, I completely forgot about this and a new application was filed on 4th October 2007, which was issued immediatley and I was suggested to transfer LTR immediately which I did at Croydon PEO on 15th October 2007.

Technically everything was completed under 28days. (New Workpermit issued and LTR renewed)

One solicitor suggested that I may have broken conditions and will need to 'start the clock' again to qualify for ILR, others have asked me to book an appointment and come in for consultation as its a complicated case.

Can anybody suggest a solicitor with good record on ILR applications?

Newland Chase have quoted £250 + VAT for initial consultation. Has anybody used them before?
