i applied for citizenship in january 2008, i got my first acknowledgement letter in march 2008, by jan 2010 i wrote to them and was asked to send payslip for me and my wife which we both sent. In april 2010 i was charged to court for leaving my kids unattended at home. in january 2012 the case against me was dismissed and i sent the paperwork from the court to inis. Amazingly one week later i was refused citizenship based on bad character while my wife was granted citizenship. I wrote a heavily worded letter to inis where i asked them what kind of society are we living in when the courts dismiss a case and i have a clean record yet the refuse me based on bad record. I went to my local garda station where i was given two letters that show i have a clean record. To my amazement i got a letter the following week acknowledging that they made a mistake in refusing me and were sending my application to the minister for a new decision. Now i figured i'd get my citizenship in a month or two but up till now over a year and three months after that letter there is still no decision. INIS has my number and have called me three times telling me my file is being worked on. The last call was a month ago where they said it was finally with the minister for a decision. Altogether the total time of my application is 5 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS. Yes you heard right, 5yrs, 7months. So those who are complaining that they have no decision in 2years, think of the person waiting over 5 and half years. Will keep you posted on the final outcome.

Thats an extraordinary case. Hopefully you'll be granted citizenship since your application is been sent to Minister for decision.

I must inform you that any application sent to the Minister for decision is more than likely to be granted. Best of luck

Thanks @nice and smooth. I am no God, but must admit that I perceive to be a god in the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service.
