Regarding Indian Tourist Visa and Passport Surrender

Hi Friends,

Can anybody please give me idea about the time it takes to surrender Indian passport and apply for a tourist visa.

1. My Kids British Passport will be with me around 5th August 2013.
2. I need to travel to India on 10th Oct 2013. Do you think it’s possible to get Indian Tourist visa with in this time frame?

It depends on where you live and how you intend to apply.
If submitted in person at London then surrender will take 3-4 days and visa 2-3 days.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Do you suggest any VFS office in particular in London. I was thinking of going to Cardiff in person. Shall I go to London Instead?

Also What is the time taken for OCI. If I got 3 weeks can I apply for OCI for my 9 month old?

I can't speak for Cardiff VFS but london takes 3-4 days - Goswell Road, Hayes both. Even if you post application at Hayes I believe the processing time is 7-10 days.

3 weeks unlikely for OCI. The official waiting time is 6 weeks and you should plan for atleast 5 weeks. (for in person applications at HCI)

Hi,

I received British Passport for my Son and have sent postal application for cancellation of Indian Passport on 10th Sept 2013.

In case I receive surrender certificate by 17th and I have tickets booked for travel to India on 9th Oct do you think I have enough time to get Tourist Visa by Post?

Can anyone who applied for Indian Tourist Visa by post can share there experience?

Can you please also mention list of documents required for this visa application.
