Hi
I am planning to apply for a 6-month family visitor visa to visit my wife (British Citizen) as she is having her maternity / delivery in UK. We both have been living outside the UK for last few years. I intend to travel there to be at my wife's side closer to the delivery due date and 1-2 weeks post delivery.
We intend to pay maternity costs up front, hence no ambiguity on our intention to pay for the medical services or how we will meet the expenses.
Following is a draft checklist of supporting docs I can think of providing to make my case for the visitor visa application. Any suggestions on whether these should suffice or any weak links that may need to be further supported?
Personal Docs
- Copies of my and wife's passport and current resident permits in current country of residence
- Copy of marriage certificate
Purpose of Visit
- Maternity Certificate from Midwife
- Hospital registration docs
- Payment receipt for upfront payment made to hospital for maternity charges
Reason to Return
- For myself, the letter from my employer with approved leave and dates of joining work post leave PLUS evidence of bank savings in the country
- For wife, letter from her confirming her intention to return PLUS copy of her return air ticket
Travel Plans
- Confirmed travel plans for specific dates with fully paid return air ticket for myself
- Travel & health insurance coverage for the visit for myself
Financial Support
- Proof of current income from employment
- Proof of bank savings
Accommodation in UK
- Proof of confirmed private accomodation arrangements in UK with family members (with copy of council tax and land registry documents)
Sponsorship Invitation
- Letter for wife's parents inviting me for the pregnancy and confirming accomodation arrangements made for us
Does that sound reasonable supporting evidence for the application or am I missing something important?
Any guidance or advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks
