Duration of the EEA2 permit

Quick question,

If i do get approved for EEA2, how long is the visa valid is. I got conflicating reports. Some say three years and others five ??

The only time when a residence card can be issued for less than five years is when the EU national advises that they intend to be in the UK for less than that time.
