Work Permit for a Student

Hi I have a fast food Sri Lankan food any planning to sponsor a cook who is a student for work permit . He is studying hotel management.

What are the minimum qualification he has to have if he doesn't have a degree? Does he stand a chance for a work permit???

My restaurant also need to apply for WP sponsor certificate. Can I show a loss for the first year trading and still apply for the WP sponsor certificate for my company.
