Spouse with Refugee Status

Post by arash_uk » Tue Aug 06, 2013 5:01 pm

Dear All,

I am a bit confused about new family rules in place after July 2012.

According to the guidance this route is for spouses of British Citizens, Settled people and people with refugee status in the UK. Thus, if a person with limited 5 years leave as a refugee marries someone, the other partner can apply for spouse visa same as the spouses of a settled person? S/he should meet the financial requirements, genuinity and other relation-related requirements?

As I remember, in the past refugees could sponsor their new spouses (spouses after refugee status have been granted) until they became settled in the UK. But it seems according to new rules, there is no difference between a settled persona and a refugee.

Indeed, if they have limited leave as a refugee or person granted humanitarian protection.
