Child First British Passport Application- Qatar

Post by nomykhan » Sat Aug 10, 2013 8:07 pm

Hi.

I applied for my daughter first British passport from Qatar . I read during the application process at GOV.Uk that it can take up to 6 weeks to process the application. It is now almost 3.5 MONTHS(14 weeks) and the application is still under process. The baby was born in Pakistan.

As i am an expat working in Qatar; i regularly need to travel for business needs. All mine, wife & baby Original British/Pakistani passports are sent with the application + all many other original docs.
I am stuck. Whenever i call them they tell me that its in process and they can not give any specific date to when the application process will finish.

I am thinking that i may take another 6 months??? who knows? I really need to travel as its part of my job requirement.
Can you people let me know what options i do have?

Can i ask them to at least send me back my Pakistani passport so i can travel?
Is application cancellation an option? but i need to redo the same process?
Anyone knows the maximum time for processing?

Does anyone face the same issue? Please guide me.

nomykhan,

This is what they say...

We are able to return your identity documents if you need them urgently and submit a request via e-mail. Your documents will be returned to you and your application will remain in our work queue. Due to high volumes of applications received by the UK Border Agency, we strongly suggest that you only ask for your documents to be returned if you really need them.

This is the email address where you will need to contact them. Write to them giving them all the details. Hopefully you should have your documents back...

All requests should be sent to BaRCUrgentReturns@UKBA.gsi.gov.uk and should include the name of the main applicant, date of birth, nationality, application form type, date of posting the application and Royal Mail delivery reference. Without this information we may be unable to locate your application.

If you applied from abroad, then submit any proof of you application (Keep originals and send only copy).

cheers
vr
