Hi I'm British and my wife is South African.
She has Limited Leave to Remain here for another 2/3 years.
I have applied via the online portal on the Portuguese Embassy for a Schengen VISA for her. I don't feel like taking the risk of turning up to the airport for her to be turned around again.
Everything is fine, I've filled the application in and then I've come across this section:
Resident visa/ permit for the U.K. valid for at least three months beyond the intended stay; PLEASE NOTE: The resident visa/permit MUST be stamped on the passport you are applying for the Schengen Visa.
Now, here is lies a problem, my wife's old SA passport was held over a year and the UKBA eventually stamped her Limited Leave to Remain VISA into this passport in her expired passport (we renewed her South African passport whilst UKBA held her old passport for over a year)
When we turn up to the Portuguese consulate in Manchester what will happen. Because my wife usually carries both her passports around, as her UK VISA is in her expired passport and her new SA passport.
Do you think this will be a problem, there is too little time to get it transferred.
