Current waiting time for EU2 applications

Any ideas on the waiting times on EU2 applications in ireland.
This will be helpful, as my spouse (EU Citizen) will be in need of his passport before the end of the month.

Most of the times they take exactly 6 months, but u ca ask for ur passports eve ur application is under process,

Correct me if am wrong,
I read some time ago in the EU Directive that if EU citizen apply for residence certificate after exercising his/her treaty right for 5years, it should be issued immediately on receipt of the application,

If this is the case, why does it take INIS to wait uptill 6 months
afterall, there should be a significant reduction in the EU application compared to the family member
