Can I work while I'm waiting for Tier 2 decision?

Hi, my PSW visa expires on the 20th October and I'm sure by then I will not have received the Tier 2 general (my company is still in process of preparing the sponsorship and it seems that I will be applying at the end of September). My question is: Can I continue working from 21st October? From this date my PSW visa will not be valid but I will have already applied for the Tier 2 and will be waiting for the decision.

if you apply before your current leave expires you can continue working by virtue of section 3C, however, unless they know it already you need to convince your employer that this is the case, i.e. that they can let you continue.
