Spouse Visa for UK, wife is on Disability Benefits.....

Post by miqaiser » Fri Aug 16, 2013 8:36 am

Dear All,
Hi, i am a pakistani citizen and i have been married to a british citizen since 2004. She moved in pakistan with me after marriage and we had a severe car accident in pakistan in which we brok our legs, she had more injuries than me. after 3 years we were able to walk but she still cant properly, she stayed with me here in pakistan most of the time but every year she went back and stayed there couple of months, in past 9 years we lived together in pakistan more than 6 year.we now decided to move together in uk because she always had problems while traveling here and there. As she is not working and recieving incapicity benefit, housing benefit and disability benefit due to her medical condition, i am wonderning if it can effect my visa as she has no savings and very low balance in her account.
i am self sufficient and i have money in my account in pakistan more than 3 million PKR.
i am going to live with her in the same place where she accepts housing benefits, will it effect my visa application? as i will be partly depending on the accomodation whose rent is paid by council.
any advice or recomendation will be appriciated for my visa success....
Thanks to all

If she is receiving Disability Living Allowance? then you will be exempt from the financial requirement and will only have to adequately maintain and accommodate yourselves. You should be ok with your savings (roughly £19000?), just make sure they are held in a financial institution that is approved by the UKBA or transfer them to your wife in the UK. Moreover, you should be aware that when you come to the UK her housing benefit will stop as you have >£16000 in savings. Get the landlord to write a letter confirming it is ok for you to live there with her.

You could perhaps open a HSBC account in Pakistan which has branches in the UK.

Or you could just transfer your money into an account in your wife's sole name.

That would be fine too.

Unless - of course - you don't trust your wife with your money ...
