Switching Employers - Tier 2 (General)

Hi,
Can anyone advice me on appropriate actions for this situation:

I have had a successful job offer but only now has my new employer enquired about my visa status. Currently I am on a Tier 2 -General (Unrestricted CoS) category. I have a PhD but do not fall under the shortage occupation. My new employer had only advertised the vacancy for 14 days so does not pass the RMLT.

Any alternatives which will allow me to change from my existing employer to the new employer even if they havent passed the RMLT?
