ECR/ECNR stamp on Indian Passport before travelling to UK

Hello All,

My spouse is travelling to UK on Spouse visa in the next couple of weeks time. He has a blank Page 2. No stamps noting ECR or ECNR.

Does he have to get any stamp on his passport before travelling to UK ( ECR or ECNR ?)


Appreciate a prompt advice. That would really help.

If the passport was issued before Jan. 2007, no notation means ECR.
If the passport was issued in/after Jan. 2007, no notation means ECNR.

You require an ECR notation when travelling to the following countries for employment:
