New born passport - reference query letter

Hi guys,

i have recently applied pass port for my new born, my colleague / friend has signed in the form acting as a referee

he mentioned me as a colleague and he has given our office address. yesterday he got a letter from Home office asking the details below.

- My Company's full name, business address and phone number. Also my profession and professional qualifications.

- Confirm whether I hold a valid premises or personal license issued under the Licensing Act.

- Say whether my company is a limited business, whether it is a registered charity or whether it is registered for VAT. Quote the company, charity and VAT registration numbers.


We can most of the info from HR but something like "personal license issued under the Licensing Act." not sure if they give it.

My question is it normal to get such letter sent out, few of friends who applied for British passport for new have said that they haven't received any letter like this.

my current status is PR

it would be really help full if any one replies to this post.
