Question regarding the salary figure

Post by t2questions » Tue Aug 20, 2013 2:05 pm

Hello,

I would like feedback on what to do in the below scenario:

- The minimum salary for a SOC code is "x".
- The T2 applicant has been offered a salary of "y" plus a guaranteed allowance of "z". The value of "y" on its own is above "x".
- The acceptance letter mentions that salary is "y-z" with allowance of "z". In reality, the salary is "y" with an allowance of "z".

What should be done in this case?
In both scenarios (whether "z" is considered as part of the basic salary or as an addon), the salary would meet the minimum requirement.
But the fact remains, the salary is more than the one specified on the letter of approval.

What's the best way to rectify this? Can I email the case worker? I don't see the case worker's email on the approval letter.
Also, do you reckon this could be a typo in the CoS in first place?

Thank you

Do you have a copy of the CoS? In it the salary including allowances should be stated in one item and then the allowances detailed separately (how much and what for)

The email address of the caseworker is: firstname.lastname@ukba.gsi.gov.

Hi manci,

I don't have a copy of the CoS.

But let's assume the CoS had it wrong (inclusive instead of exclusive allowances), what would be the next step? Keeping in mind that both figures (old or corrected) are above the guidance's required minimum.

As for the case worker contact - I meant that the approval letter does not have the name of the case worker, so how can I tell who I should contact?

get a copy of the CoS and don't contact anyone until you check it.

Thanks Manci, I'll try to get a copy but I doubt I'll be given one.

So just so that I know, if the salary is heifer than the one mentioned in the CoS, what implication does this have? Would a change of circumstances form be needed? Or is it ok?

I wasn't given a copy of the CoS. I'm at that point assuming it's not the PEO's fault.

What's the next step please?

On a separate unrelated note, the acceptance letter does not mention the case worker's name or email. How can I contact him/her?

Why do you need to contact anyone? You're getting slightly more than the CoS states - the UKBA already approved that lower salary. The sponsor can make a sponsor note re the salary - in the scheme of things the UKBA don't give a hoot; they have far bigger fish to fry. The salary has to meet a minimum - if it's already enough then get on with your life.
