Hi all,
Sorry for starting a second thread in 2 days but it is not related to the first and may help others. Anyway, I was thinking ahead to the possibility of changing my fiance's surname (which she wants to do) after marriage and was wondering what the best way to do this is? We would not have time to change her name on her passport etc between obtaining the fiance visa and applying for FLR(M) after the wedding.
Is it possible to just keep her maiden name until she acquires citizenship (6 years or so) and then change everything as this may be the most simple route?
OR
Scenario: If we applied for Fiance visa and FLR(M) on her maiden name, then changed her foreign passport to my surname and contacted UKBA about changing the details on her BRP, would this cause a problem on the second FLR(M) application or subsequent ILR application with the name change?
We are just looking for the easiest and cheapest way to have it done, and if it means waiting until British Citizenship to change her surname so as to not complicate visa matters then so be it.
Thanks for any advice guys,
