Non UK Referee

Post by mikeyistanbul » Tue Aug 20, 2013 5:59 pm

Hi,

am living in the UK with my wife who is Turkish and wants to apply for UK citizenship. We have been here for over 3 year but cannot find a referee who has professional qualifications.

Can we use someone from Turkey? Might this lead to her application being rejected?

Thanks.

For the professional referee, you should be able to use a non uk resident who is a person of professional standing in their community.

Does that person need to speak English? Would it prejudice the application at all?

Could I use my mother's sister's husband for my wife's referee? Would he be counted as her family?

Use a non-UK Referee

Mikeyistanbul,

They are not going to check this referee's ancestary only his professional standing. So do not mention any relationship etc voluntarily. You should be fine.

Again as for the language that the foreign referee speaks, let the home office figure out  . I am sure they wont insist on ESOL and language tests.

You should be absolutely fine.
cheers
