I wonder if anyone can help clarify something for me.
My Fiance and I are about begin application for a fiance visa via the VAF4A. I thought we met all criteria , but I seem to have found an major hitch.
I am a UK citizen living in Belfast. My fiance is an Argentine and has been living in Dublin (resident in Ireland) for the past two and half years on a student visa.
Today I was browsing the UKBA website and found this
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/count ... %20English
According to the link
And from the more information:If you currently have temporary permission to stay in Ireland (for example, as a student or a visitor), you can only apply for some types of UK visa - see 'More information' below.
It then saysApplying for a UK visa if you have temporary permission to stay
If you have temporary permission to stay (for example, as a visitor) in the country where you are currently living, you cannot apply for most types of UK visa in that country. You can only apply for:
a visitor visa
a Tier 5 (Temporary worker - creative and sporting) visa
an EEA family permit
The link the just brings you right back to the start. To apply for any other type of UK visa, you must apply under the procedure for your country of residence. You can find this procedure by selecting your country of residence in our country finder .
Does this imply that there is some procedure for applying for a fiance visa from Ireland, or does this rule out this option altogether.
Many thanks
