Indian Passport for newborn baby wth 1 parent documents

Post by Robin_Jain » Wed Aug 21, 2013 3:34 pm

Hi

How can we get a passport for newborn baby (2 months) on only mothers documents .

The problem is mother has her VISA rejected (Entrepreneur Visa) and father is not responsible and don't want to give his passport details as he was in other country (not India) and a complete idiot.

She has to leave the country very soon but cant leave without the passport for the baby.

Is there any way that we can apply without fathers documents . If she was separated or father died or something we can show that proof but he is in different country and don't want to give any of his documents.

Is there any one in the Indian consulate that she can contact to explain the situation to get the passport for the baby soon.

What she can do in this situation. Please can anyone help in this regard

Ask her to go and explain the situation in the consulate. If they dont allow her to apply for her baby's passport, at least they will register the baby's birth as an Indian citizen based on her existing birth certificate and issue some temporary travel documents to enable the mother and baby to get back to India.

Update: I just saw that it is clearly mentioned on the website of High Commission in London that:

•For a child with single parent, a sworn Affidavit stating about custody/reason for being single parent and taking legal responsibility for any dispute in future from other parent to be filed.
