Been in London since January 1996 started of at a primary school at age of 10 completed my GCSE been as far as University now am 28. 3 years ago applied for my nationality and was refused under the unspent conviction on the good character section. In the summer 2009 I was hard done by traffic offence and given a 6 month ban.on my licence, had to start all over again waiting and redoing mylicence at the end of that had to carry on hard life with the given.convictions on my license which affected my insurance permius, job applications, naturalisation let alone trying to achiever higher in life...A week ago I had my licence given a clean slate with all the previous points and bans erased off ..only to get happy and apply for the naturalisation...I decided to send in for disclosure check and unfortunately they still have my convictions and would have to wait another year to clean slate that...

I dont judge myself but I am talented and business orientated I have.long awaited to travel overseas to make business contacts and set up business to help grow our economy as well as my future...It can really hurt when you served a country for almost 20 years and still feel hard done by the law and system...To all those out there have whatever you have dont take it for granted because another is seeking for those chqnces!!!

Naturalisation is good but not easy. However you have some good news. As of Dec-12 they do not consider the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 for naturalisation purposes. They have their own thresholds. For a non-custodial sentence if you have 3 years clean before the time you apply your application will be successful.

Kindly let us know when was your last conviction and for what (date included). Perhaps you will have a silver lining. If you have multiple convictions list them out and it will become clear whether you can apply or not.

I would also strongly recommend you to read the Good Character Sticky put out painstakingly for the benefit of all in this board.

Thank you replying Sorry did not get back to as soon as but much appreciated and kimd of you. Following convictions are listed below through attending Magistrates Court:
date of conviction : 02/06/2009

offence:

1. Driving other than in accordance with licence
2. Using vehicle while uninsured
3. Using passenger vehicle constructed to carry 8 or leaa seated passengers with defectove tyre
4. Using vehicle with defective steering
5. Driver fail to give name and address

I was fined a total of £415 and 6 month ban on my licence with a retake. I have now my full licence with all previous endorsements and ban removed from counterpart.
Its stupid and silly but hey you learn from it just as everybody!!

I would like to know your views on this now as I am hoping to naturalise and given the opportunity to succeed in future and be of benefit to U.K. and serve with pride.
