OCI application - Is Original British Passport Required

Hi,

I am planning to apply for OCI in person at London. I have submitted my british passport for India Tourist Visa and its currently unavailable with me.

Do I need to carry original British passport for applying OCI ? I have all the other original documents with me, can I give a try or should wait for my original passport to be back ?

I submitted by OCI yesterday and although I took my original passport with me, I was not asked for it. They just checked the copy which was self attested on each page.
