URGENT: Fixed-term (time) deposits

Post by joe886 » Sat Aug 24, 2013 8:05 pm

Hello,

I have been awarded a scholarship by my firm choice university in the UK and I am about to submit my Tier 4 (General) Student Visa application. Since the scholarship covers approximately 90% of all costs during the first year of my undergraduate study, I understand that I need to provide evidence that I have the remaining amount of £2200 (approximately 10% of the total costs) available to me.

The required amount has been in my bank account for a few days now and if I wait until mid-September for the 28-day period to end, I will probably end up having my visa delivered to me with a one- to two-week delay.

The bank officers have told me that this amount can be easily turned into a fixed-term (time) deposit whereby the bank would guarantee that the money cannot be withdrawn until the term of e.g. one month (>28 days) has ended.

Therefore, would this be acceptable as evidence of the funds necessary to cover the rest of my living expenses (the full cost of tuition and most of the living expenses are covered by the scholarship)?

Thanks for your help.

UKBA will refuse your visa by not providing you 10 points for money.

Tier-4 rules clearly tells that the required amount must be in your bank account from last 28 days or bank provide guaranteed loan equal to that amount. So, I don't think that this kind of trick will work.
