Question on self employment

Post by Doublestarxx » Sun Aug 25, 2013 3:22 pm

Plz I would like to know if you are self employed and you go on maternity leave, do you still have to be paying NI contributions, to be still be still treated as excercising treaty rights. Currently on DWP maternity allowance. Am taking a break to look after my child after which I will go back to being self employed or look for a job

You could still retain your self-employment status, if you did not DE-register, you continue to file tax return, and can show that you were temporarily unable to work, due to child care duties.
