UK Tier 2 Dependent Applying for Schengen visa ?

Hi Gurus,

My Friend is currently in UK with Tier 2 visa till May 2015. His spouse would be joining him in UK but there is possibility that her Dependent visa could be only for 6 months ( due to her employement). If they both apply for schengen visa through French embassy from UK, then :

1) Does both of them get Schengen Visa validity based on Main application UK visa status ( May 2015) ?

2) Is there possibility that Main applicant gets more Schengen Visa validity and dependent gets less ?

3) Does the rule "Schengen visa cannot be issued within last 3 months of your valid UK visa" is applicable for the dependent as they both would apply the visa together?
