Tier 2 questions please help

Hello

I would be grateful if someone can help me / advice me on this.

I am currently under the old work permit visa and I have recently been offered a position in another company who are willing to do Tier 2 (G) for me.

Wanted to know before accepting the offer whether they will need to cancel my existing work permit before processing the fresh Tier 2 or once the new one is approved the previous one is automatically cancelled?

Please let me know if someone knows how this works?

As and when you resign from the existing employer, the existing employer will inform UKBA about the termination of your employment effective your last working day.

The new sponsor (Tier 2) has nothing to do in this process. Getting a CoS and applying for leave to remain as Tier 2 is is not dependent on termination / cancellation of WP authorisation.

One more thing i would like to confirm -- if i undergo this change of work permit that means my wife will need to do it as well as dependant of the new Tier 2 (G) holder? or she can continue with the existing one until we get our ILRs?
