Fiance Visa - USA to UK Help ?!

Post by Hughes » Thu Aug 29, 2013 1:15 am

I am a UK/USA dual citizen. I have just been living in the USA for the last 1 /12 years and want to return to the UK with my fiance who is a USA citizen. Since i have been in the USA i do not meet the financial requirements for me to sponsor my fiance for us to enter the UK. Is there anyway around this as i plan on working when i arrive and we dont want to be separated during this process. HELP ?

She can visit the UK for six months and then return to apply for her fiancee visa assuming you will have been working throughout that six month period on an annual salary over 18.6k. As a US passport holder she will be granted 6 months visit entry on arrival but she should be guarded about her intentions if questioned in depth. Keep a straight face and stick to the story that it is only a short visit to see you and that she does intend to return. She should not refer to the fact that she is there to simply continue living with you having been living with you until now in the USA. She should be in a position to show that she is retaining her US ties and be able to prove these if asked. Arriving with all her worldly possessions would be foolhardy!

She could also enter on a marriage-visit visa if it was clear that she intended to leave the UK afterwards.
