Can I qualify for a English passport?

Post by dribzy » Fri Aug 30, 2013 1:39 am

Hey,

I'm from Australia and i'm moving to the UK next year to live for a few years. I was notified that I could possibly qualify for an English passport as my grandparents where born in England then eventually settled in Australia.

-My grandfather was in the English navy does that qualify as crown service?
- They came to Australia around late 40's/ early 50's
- My mother was born in 1961 and i was born in 1988
- Grandparents born in 1931 and 1932

Thanks for helping :D

I think it's possible, if your father/mother is British otherwise than by descent because his/her father was in the Crown service.

Thanks for the reply

My mother was born in Australia. Who would be the best to contact to find out whether or not i qualify for a British passport?

It may depend whether it was the merchant navy or Royal Navy?

If you're not British then perhaps consider an ancestry visa
