Housing benefit query urgent

Post by sonub4ualt » Fri Aug 30, 2013 11:22 pm

Hi all,

I recentle became eligible for HB and applied to our local council. For proof of income i gave them payslips and bankstatements. As the cycle of my bank statement is on 29th of each month and this is my usual date when i get paid.
I live with my wife and son, based on my income i wss granted £85 per seek. While in the calculation sheet, they considered my end of balance £1900 as net capital and alloted me HB award, as this included my most recent pay

Will the net capital if £1900considered affect my overall entitlement. Also the £1900 includes some of the arrears from previous month! Shall i go and explain it to the council, or will they have their own way of calculating incomes from payslips?

Also my weekly pay is about 380, but they mentioned in the calculation sheet that they hav considered £600 based on the income proof

If you think the decision is based of weekly earnings that are too high then you can appeal.

Capital less than £6000 does not affect the housing benefit.
