when to book the ceremony

Post by tusharagrawal » Sat Aug 31, 2013 12:06 pm

Hi,
Self + Spouse (AN) and UK born child (MN1) made citizenship application via NCS harrow on 10th July 2013.
Current Citizenship: Indian
Method of application: NCS Harrow
Date of application: 10th July 2013
Date of receipt by UKBA:11th July 2013
Date of acknowledgement : 12th July 2013 (received 17th July 2013)
Date of debit of fees: 12th July 2013
Date of approval: 23th July 2013 (Received 30/08/13)
Date of Ceremony: To be booked.

Now, we have received invitation letter to book the ceremony.
My understanding is that we from the date of ceremony, I have 3 months to surrender my Indian passport and can travel to India in that window.
So if I book the ceremony around mid October, I will have time to make a trip to India on my Indian passport and return by mid Jan.

For our son, as we made a family application, in the letter, they have asked us to collect his certification when we attend our ceremony (and he is welcome to attend the ceremony).

Any idea whether the date on this certificate would be pre-dated or same as ours, i.e. mid October ?

Reason I ask is - if its pre-dated, I will have to surrender his Indian passport in 3 months time from the date.

Checked the forum, don't think this has been asked before.

Link above suggests that 3 months from the date of issue of naturalisation certificate, once could use their Indian passport for travel to India.

What I am trying to establish is, what would be the date of issue for our MN1 registered child who's certificate we've been asked to collect during our ceremony.

Ok, got the answer.
Called the council to book the ceremony and was told that for me and my wife (AN), the date of issue would be the date of ceremony.
For our MN1 registered son, the date would be already there on the certificate so I guess it would be 23July2013.
