USA Travel question

Post by wpilr_nov12 » Tue Sep 03, 2013 4:07 pm

I am filing my I-130 (USA) in Sep 2013.
I will be applying for UK Naturalization in Nov 2013.
I want to take a summer holiday (4th of July week 2014) in USA, so will apply via ESTA/VWP route with UK passport, if I get it. Otherwise I will have to apply for a Tourist visa on my current passport.

Question: Will my filing of I-130 have any impact on USA travel plan (ESTA/VWP, or Tourist visa application).

Thanks

You wish to immigrate to the United States or are also just going for a holiday?

Keeping all options open. Will eventually migrate permanently as already have a base there.

Bare in mind future intentions for UK naturalisation.

Perhaps just visit as a tourist until you are naturalised.

You mean I should postpone I130 application until I complete UK naturalisation? I am filing my Uk naturalisation in Nov this year.

One of the criteria for naturalisation is you must intend to continue living in the UK, this is clearly not the case if you're leaving to the US permanently. Hence why I suggested it may be wise to apply for your I1-30 after naturalisation.
