I am writing to request some advice for my wife's AN1 application made alongwith my AN1 and our daughter's/MN1 applications
We are a single-income household [paying the additional rate of Income Tax] for several years.
In the last 18 months, my wife has started a small online venture that has made a planned small loss in the first year [and this is recorded in her self-assessment with HMRC - due to one-off setup costs ]. We do not live on this income. No tax is owing, no public funds have ever been claimed, she has an excellent credit history and no bankruptcies/debts/court penalties/etc.
I was wondering if this loss - reflected in her self-assessment - could hurt her AN1 application. If so, what mitigations do we have.
I would not like to show her occupation as 'Housewife' as she has an NI number, is registered for VAT (though not really needing to be yet), and has completed 1 self-assessment return.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks
