Immigrant seeking divorce due to cheating husband

Post by ninabear » Fri Sep 06, 2013 10:21 am

Hello,

I have been married for 2 years and 9months and I’m on a 2 year marriage probationary visa which was granted only this year January due to delay of application and other events. I have found out that my husband has been on dating sites for past 2years. I don't know whether he actually met up with someone and cheated before but I know that he is doing this now. Do I have the chance to get out of this relationship and still be able to stay in UK?

Thank you so much in advance.

When was the application for the spouse visa submitted? Have you confronted your husband about the cheating yet?

The Spouse visa was submitted in March 2012 but only got the visa in Jan 2013 where I was told that Olympic caused the delay.

No, I haven't confronted anything yet but I know that he knows that I know.

You're under the old rules so only need 2 years for settlement. You should consider making the relationship subsist until you have ILR.

Yp!

Best advice so far. I will repeat what the above poster told you. Hold on to that marriage till January 2015, because there is nothing worse than getting divorced while under the Spouse visa. I am currently in that boat, getting out of it soon.
But trust me, you do not want to be in that situation. Make him understand you don't approve of what he did (that is if you think that is the best thing to do). What you don't want is him thinking you are now just waiting with him for the ILR. Since he is a guy, he might help you out. We guys think way differently to women (who are naturally diabolical; no offence).
If he starts to think you are with him for the ILR and friends sense this, they might push him and if he starts pushing for a separation or divorce or worse, reports you to the UKBA. Not good. Try to patch things up.
I really don't want anybody in the situation I am in, at all. Not even my enemy. So please, be careful.
Hope this helps.

Women are not 'naturally diabolical', there is good and bad in both genders. But yes, the situation the OP finds herself in is rather precarious and she should think wisely before making any decisions.
