tier 4 visa extension

hey please i seriously need help im filling out my application form for an extension of a tier 4 visa and i recieved a penalty notice for shoplifting last year december i really really regret why i did it , will it affect my application and do i need to disclose it because i read on the notice if i pay the fine there will be no criminal records etc and i paid it plus it was issued by a police officer on the spot , please i need help im really scared

You don't have to declare it as you were not convicted by court.
