Post by knightinkhaki » Sat Sep 07, 2013 6:58 pm

Hello,

Iam making a Tier 2 general application(Switching from a different category),making an ONLINE application.Has anyone on here done this before? If yes,any help would be much appreciated.

Also, what would be the usual time scales for getting the Visa?

Thanks

the online application can be found at visa4uk.com - takes about 30 mins max to fill out.

as for processing times, it can be found on the UKBA website: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ing-times/

Lynz1988,appreciate the reply. But I am assuming that is for the applicants residing outside the UK,I am already in the UK and need to make a Tier 2 General Online application.

There is a Apply button at the bottom of the page is what I have learnt but there isn't any button there

This is what I found for applying within the UK: https://apply.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ia ... l=formList

I've never done it from within the UK and in fact am embarking on the tier 2 general but needing to apply from outside the UK - as I had to do that for the YMS visa, I am more familiar with that process but looks like this is fairly straightforward. It doesn't look like they like to give out processing times for applications made within the UK though....hmmmm....

Online is the way to go as it is very easy to fill and there is less chance of commiting spelling mistakes or confusion that may arise in paper form with poor handwriting.

I recently applied online and got my new leave to remain yesterday for myself and 2 dependents. The print out of the online form was about 14 pages. That's it. Also the site clearly tells us the supporting documents that needs to be submitted clearly for each applicant. It is given like a cover sheet which can be downloaded / printed.

I am so glad that the process has been simplified. :D Also you get appointments quite easily for same day service (Premium) nowadays.
