EEA 4 and criminal conviction

Post by macpie » Sun Sep 08, 2013 1:09 am

Hi all,

I applied for my PR as a spouse of an EU national back in June and my application is pending.
While filling out the form I left the part asking for criminal record blank as at that point I believed that there are no criminal convictions to be mentioned. I found out just recently that it is a conviction when someone ends up in court for unpaid speeding ticket. This is exactly what happened to me in 2012. I got a £60 fixed penalty notice for exeeding speed limit on a motorway and failed to pay it on time which resulted in a courtcase. Due to fimancial problems I was facing at the time, the court ordered me to pay £70 and allowed me to do so in installments.
I know that this conviction will have an impact on my naturalisation application (I asked about this before in the British Citizenship part of this forum) but what about my pending EEA 4 application? Can HO refuse my application on this ground? What should I do now about this? I would greatly appreciate any advice.
