How to prove ILR status while waiting for decision

Post by gkedia » Mon Sep 09, 2013 8:08 pm

Hi..

I have submitted my application by post on 1st Aug. Since I was not planning to travel anytime soon, I just opted for self application instead of NCS. The decision which I now regret.

I am in process of buying a house and bank needs to see the proof of my ILR for mortgage.. I do have a copy of Passport and BRP card.. but they wont accept it.

Is there any way I can get letter from Home office confirming my status ?

Any one had any similar situation ?

Have you received acknowledgement letter, you can try showing that letter, saying you have applied for citizenship and you cannot apply citizenship without ILR.

You will also have ILR approval letter, show that letter.

Have you applied directly thru bank, if you dont mind asking, which bank?
Try applying thru broker.

Thanks I did tell them about it.. The problem is Acknowledegement letter doesnt say that I have ILR.. It just says passport and number of supporting documents recieved.

I was applying directly to HSBC.. that the only bank who doesnt operate through broker..

May be I will speak to broker and apply to different bank !

Your broker will also be bound to make a certified copy of your ID so that'll be a no go too. How about your employer, they can request a ukba verification of your current status, whether they'll do this is another matter but worth asking.

other bank or not or broker will ask for passport too

solicitor going to ask for passport too to comply with anti money laundering law

do not make too many applications, it gets recorded on your credit file

time line seem to speed up, wait for a few more weeks if you can

or request for return of documents if you can't wait
