Understood. It can be very difficult. Keep trying different embassy web sites until you find a good one.regina_dsilva wrote:Unfortunately the Portuguese website is not user friendly neither are their staff face-to-face or on the phone. The website is in Portuguese not english. There is no information as such on how to prove that a person does not have portuguese citizenship (this is very clear and concise on the UKBA website for British Citizenship).
As the Indian High Commission official was kind enough to show a copy of the sample letter, can you not try contracting them again and check who/which department at Portuguese Embassy issued that letter? or perhaps ask for a redated copy of that sample letter for reference.regina_dsilva wrote:The officer at the Indian emabssy did show me a copy of the letter for reference (which belonged to someone else) which was issued by the Portuguese EMbassy in London.
hello regina _dsilva ,can you solve your problem and how to got your non acquisition letter from portugal embassy.regina_dsilva wrote:Dear All,
I am hoping to get my questions answered here. I have been running from pillar to post for a 'non acquisition' letter. I currently live in the UK with my husband who is a Portuguese nationality. I and my daughter hold an Indian passport with a valid residence visa. The time has come to renew my 5year old daughters passport. When I went to the Indian Embassy in London, I was told that I need to produce a letter called 'non acquisition', that states that my daughter doesn't hold the nationality of her father i.e. Portuguese. When I approached the Portugues emabssy I was told that I need to get it from the POrtuguese embassy where she was born. Is this true?? The officer at the Indian emabssy did show me a copy of the letter for reference (which belonged to someone else) which was issued by the Portuguese EMbassy in London.
I have been going bonkers, don't know who to approach. HOpe to find some solution here. Before things get out of hand.
Thank you for your time and consideration
