Post by maggieczuk » Tue Sep 10, 2013 3:20 pm

Hello friends,
i got my eea family permit for 6 months thank God.
my question however, is can i be able to travel to the UK by my self to join my husband? he is already in the uk.
or
is he supposed to come back to poland and we go together?
we dont really understand how this work. in my permit, they put in JOINING TO.. then my husbands name.

What exactly happens at customs.

2. can i be able to work on this 6 months family permit???

thank you

As he is already in the UK, you can travel alone. Joining refers to him being in the UK ahead of your arrival.

Generally the permit is enough if it says to join as otherwise it say to accompany, in which case they would expect him to be travelling with you. If they are in doubt as to his presence in the UK, presumably they can call him on a UK telephone number in the event that he is not at the airport to meet you.

You do have right to work but you should apply for a residence card as soon as possible as this will confirm that status to potential employers.
