Hi i applied for citizenship in aug 2012 , just recently i got a letter from the further processing team asking for an updated version of my GNIB card what does this mean is it a good sign ??

yes that is a Good Sign , please do Send it ASAP , that means your file is being dealt with and all checks have been completed so you are progressing to the next stage where they will make a Decision .
speaking from personal Experience it took them approximately 3 months to make a decision after they received my Updated GNIB Card together with other Requested Documents. so just sit tight stay out of trouble and you will hear some good news soon , not necessarily 3 months like myself you could be lucky enough to get approval withing the next few weeks .
