European residence card for my australian girlfriend

Post by brisbyrne » Fri Sep 13, 2013 10:42 am

Hi there,

My australian girlfriend is currently on a years working holiday visa in ireland working away. Expires next March, 2014.
We are going to apply for the EU1 visa ( non-european spousal visa so she can stay longer). We met in Australian and have been together over 2 years.

She has been working for approx 4 months with the one place. and i have a letter from them to say she will have work for the forseeable future.

Problem is, on the working holiday one year visa, i think she can only work for 6 months with one place.
The company want her to stay there. and while we wait on the outcome of the EU1 visa. She would like to continue working there.

How can get around this, that she keeps working there while we wait on the outcome???
Will they bother checking this?

Cheers for any help

While they are reviewing her application (6 month period), she will be issued with a temporary Stamp 4 GNIB card. She should expect that about two months after submitting the application if she has included all the requested documents. The card will give her the right to work in Ireland for any employer and any duration until the end of the 6 months processing time.

So if she sends the application new she should be fine and have broader rights to work by the time she hits the limit of her current visa with her current employer (but don't wait too much, they are getting slower and slower to issue temporary Stamp 4 letters).
