Tier 2 Dependent Visa Delays

Hi,

I have applied for Tier 2 General dependent visa on July 3rd 2013. I still have not received my passport. On reaching out to the British High Commission Chennai, they have confirmed that the visa processing is going on and that the standard enquires are taking time.

Is it normal to have such delays? Any idea why is it taking so long? Any suggestions/ advices?
