Naturalisation when meeting both eligibility criteria help

Dear All

I am enquiring for someone that meets the eligibility criteria through residence and being married to a British Citizen. She has helps ILR status for over 30 years.

In the form AN it does not ask how you meet the criteria, if you are married it expects you to provide marriage certificate, partner's British Passport and Naturalisation certificate number. My question is what if the person does not have all these documents available, she might be able to get the Naturalisation number but probably not the marriage certificate (married a long time ago in the sub continent)

Is it likely to cause problems if she fails to provide all the documents for this eligibility route. Is she not able to request to have her application based on the resident route alone.

Just having ILR for 30 years is not sufficient. If she chooses to apply through the 6(2) Marriage to a British Citizen route then all the relevant documents will need to be provided.

If she is applying as an Individual complying with the Residential and other requirements for Naturalization 6(1) even then she will have to submit all the required documentation.

For EG: Documentary proof of Residence in UK
Passport and Proof that absences during the qualifying period are
within the rules.
Knowledge of Life and Language in the UK (This is an interesting one- will this be required for a person who has spent the best part of her life here?)

If she is already naturalized then the Naturalization Certificate and other relevant details can be obtained by a Freedom of Information request from the Home office.

I understand the need to provide documents relating the the eligibility route. However in the form it does not ask if you are applying under 6(2) or 6(1).

She can use the additional information section on page 13 to indicate under which section she is applying.

To apply under 6(2), proof of BC for spouse (passport number is OK if they can't find a naturalisation certificate) and proof of marriage. I appreciate it might be difficult to provide one from 30 years ago. If she meets the requirements, she can apply under 6(1).
