claiming Child tax credit

Post by jamiluddin » Mon Sep 16, 2013 5:48 pm

Hi,

I've claimed child tax credit on 7th August 2013 ,both me and my wife has ILR now but when i applied my wife did not have ILR.my wife does not have a NINO so I left it blank ,I phoned HMRC several times and they told they will check about my wife as she does not have a NINO ,now after 1 month they have send a form asking for both of our passport /BRP card and have informed in we don't reply before 9th Oct 2013 they will take the decision with the information provided and it might effect the benefit amount. I've now booked a NINO appointment for my wife this week. I will be travelling in October so I wont be able to send my passport. I am just wondering why HMRC is asking for passports ,what should I do now.
