Recruiting Tier 2 resources for a growing data consultancy

Post by abhigreen » Tue Sep 17, 2013 11:31 am

Ours is a two people strong small data consultancy. We are looking to recruit people in the UK as data analysts or architects, and given the role, we are likely to get good fit from amongst skilled migrant resources

Following are the likely scenarios
For currently UK based resources – Conversion from Post Study visa to Tier 2 visa
For currently UK based resources – Transfer of existing Tier 2 to our company's Tier 2 visa
For currently Indian based resources – Getting them here on Tier 2 visa

However, we are seeing a number of hurdles

1. Need to have own office premises - we work directly in client locations, hence have never needed an office. Do we need one for sponsorship?

2.Registration with a Governing Body - What would be a governing body for a data consultancy? Again this seems to be needed for sponsorship.

3. resident labour market test - have advertised the job on linkedin for 8 weeks now. Is that enough?

If it is going to cost 3k pp upwards for sponsorship + visa, it will be extremely difficult for the first 2-3 resources we recruit. Already recruitment agency costs are substantial, hence need your collective advice in understanding if there are simpler ways of recruiting this resource profile.

I am already seeking help of a solicitor, but your help will be much appreciated

Many Thanks in Advance

any response guys. There are lots of knowledgeable people out there, who have either applied for licenses or seen their employers apply for one.

Any help appreciated.

there are many other questions you haven't asked that would be relevant to becoming a T2 sponsor. Suggest you read the Homo Office guidance for sponsors:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... sguidance/

Q1 you would need an office and an HR system to manage migrants' records and where the HO can carry out inspections
Q2 registration with a governing body is only required if there is a governing body
Q3 no, the rules are in the sponsor quidance.

Also - the job you described seems to correspond to SOC code 2135 which has a min salary of £30,600 for experienced workers and £24,900 for new entrants. This is the minimum you would have to pay the migrants.
